November is here and we can all officially step into the Fall/Thanksgiving season. It is time to start thinking about how to welcome guests into our homes. Eventhough this year is different, and some of you may not have any or as many guests coming over. Don’t let that stop you from stepping into this season to celebrate and to create something special and memorable for you and your family.
For some of us, the traditional Thanksgiving decor can be tough to really get into and incorporate. With all its dark brown, gold and dry characteristics, it can feel a little drab, messy, or just not work at all for some decor styles.
Don’t get us wrong, tradition is great, but at Season and Societe we are all about elevating the ordinary, being inspired by what surrounds us, and elevating everyday life. And for this season the garden has so much to offer!
3 Ways Elevated Garden Culture can Revitalize Your Thanksgiving Decor
Below, we are sharing 3 simple ways to create Thanksgiving Table Decor that you will love. We hope to leave you inspired and refreshed through our Elevated Garden Culture perspective on Thanksgiving decor. Cheers to a fresh and newly curated Thanksgiving decor collection!
1. Incorporate Metallic Tones
One of the first things we noticed about traditional Thanksgiving decor is that it tends to fall a little flat, be unpolished, and lack the element of refinement that we crave at Season & Societe. We suggest that the first thing you can do is incorporate Metallic tones as great solution to this problem. The use of metallic tones adds sophistication and warmth.
Using metals brings brilliant color and adds a reflective quality to provide an elevated feel to your tablesetting.
Warm-toned Metallic Silverware
This table setting was featured as a fall wedding by Style Me Pretty. We think it would make for a beautiful and elegant Thanksgiving table setting
This 5 piece Copper Flatware Set from Crate and Barrel is perfect addition to your Thanksgiving Table Setting.
Plate Charger
If you are like us, white plates are just practical and good for everyday use. But how can you change the look and feel of your seemingly blah white dinnerware? We recommend getting some plate chargers.
This setting from Pottery Barn is great. They incorporate the metallic by using the brass flatware and metallic plate charger, then they even took it a step further adding the round woven placemats to add texture to the setting.
2. Use Fresh Herbs and Cuttings
Another area we found that could use significant improvement in Thanksgiving Decor is with the color scheme. In our experience and research, we noticed that people seemed to decorate heavily with brown, orange and yellow, but Thanksgiving is all about the harvest, and harvest has so many more colors to offer. As such, your thanksgiving decor should also.
An easy way to add new colors to your Thanksgiving decor is to incorporate fresh herbs, cuttings, or crops as part of your decor. These fresh ingredients add color and texture that will really bring your table setting to life.
Napkins tied with herbs
We love how simple yet elegant this tied napkin is from Food52. The napkin color is right on tone for the season and the herb cuttings are such a nice added touch.
Branch Cuttings
There are so many ways to incorporate cuttings. The best way is simply to go outside and see what you have. You can get tree branches with acorns or fruit, tall grasses, or even just other greenery from trees or shrubs.
This place setting by Anderson and Grant is perfect for Fall Thanksgiving Table. We love the Oak tree cuttings, painted oak motif plates, and wood chargers.
Seasonal Flowers and Greenery
Try following the lead of Sugar and Charm for modern take on a rustic Thanksgiving table setting. Their use of metallics is right on point and the flower arrangement are just perfect!
If you are looking for inspiration on cuttings and how to put it all together, check out this book by Erin Benzakein of Floret Flowers ‘Cut Flower Garden‘.
Fruits
You can never go wrong following Carolyn Rhome for table setting ideas. In this story by Cote de Texas, Rhome’s table is beautifully set for Thanksgiving dinner.
3. Use Candles For Lighting
Add some warmth and ambiance using candles or other flame-lit lighting. If you are worried about children and candles, there are some great options out there for flameless candles.
Brass Candlestick
The Teacher Diva’s style is perfectly on point with this Thanksgiving Table Setting. The antiqued brass candleholders add that touch of classic to this modernist setting.
Glass Votives
If you are going for a more casual experience, simple glass votives are a great way to go.
The French Country Cottage does a great job with this outdoor dining setting. Even though it’s not one of our highlights, we especially like the amber glassware – such a great way to incorporate that golden fall tone!
