The fall season provides many opportunities to get outside – whether you host events for friends and family such as a harvest party or a watch party for your favorite team, gather with loved ones for thanksgiving, or simply go out and enjoy the weather over cocktails or coffee. Whatever the occasion, it always refreshes our souls to have some outdoor activities planned.
Here are 6 Outdoor Activities to look forward to this season. So, take advantage of the break from the heat, get outside and enjoy this wonderful weather!
6 Outdoor Activities to Enjoy with Your Loved Ones This Fall
1. Play Yard Games
Yard games are one of our favorite ways to spend these gorgeous fall days. Yard games are an on-trend activity that is fun for all ages and stages of life and an activity that all of your guests will be sure to enjoy and remember!
Some of our favorite yard games right now are:
There are many great companies out there like Beyond Outdoors making game boards using natural and sustainable materials–wood, rope, and metals–so they look stylish and should stay in great shape for years to come. If you prefer a more customized option, shop small or check out one of the many vendors on Etsy!
For a fun and easy Saturday with friends, we suggest you organize a backyard cornhole tournament. Serve guests herb-fused cocktails and have them bring their favorite snack.
2. Enjoy a Picnic
Another simple, yet highly satisfying way to enjoy a change of pace from being cooped up indoors is to have a picnic. For a sophisticated and stress free picnic grab your blanket, bring your favorite bottle of wine, pick up a cheese board from your local market and toss in a couple seasonal goodies like apple cider, pumpkin rolls, apples with caramel or whatever else you fancy (or whatever else you find in your house).
Head to the park or set up right in your own backyard and enjoy the fresh air!
3. Take a Hike
Another one of our favorite outdoor fall activities is hiking. Choose a hike that best suits your personality and make your hike a rigorous exercise activity, or a stroll on a nature trail. However you plan your hike, be sure to take in all that fall has to offer. Enjoy the wonderful views, experience the changing colors, breathe in the cooler air.. A hike with your loved ones is always a great activity before or after a meal spent together around the table. The crisp air provides a wonderful change of pace from your busy life and makes returning to your comfortable, cozy fall home that much more enjoyable.
4. Have a Bonfire
One of the signature events of fall we look forward to is our annual bonfire with friends. There is something so special about the conversations and atmosphere that is created when we all snuggle up around a fire together. And the great thing about a bonfire is it can happen just about anywhere. Anywhere that is legally allowed, that is.
So whether you make a weekend of it and go camping with friends, take a short stroll to the beach, or even enjoy a fire in the firepit in your own backyard, be sure to grab some ingredients for s’mores, your favorite warm beverage and invite a crowd!
5. Watch a Movie, Outdoors
Last but certainly not least, one of the most elevated outdoor activities perfect for fall weather is to host an outdoor movie night! This activity might take a bit more planning, but the experience and enjoyment is well worth it. You will need to set up a screen and there are many different ways to do that. You can purchase an inflatable screen like this one at Amazon, purchase a projector screen like this on at Walmart, or create your own, using a simple bedsheet like this cotton top sheet from Parachute.
Whatever route you take, this is an activity that you can enjoy during the fall and easily translate to virtually any season or setting. Grab your coziest blankets and pillows and enjoy a night under the stars!
Now that fall is upon us, let’s get outdoors and enjoy it! Which of our 6 Outdoor Activities for Fall will you enjoy with your loved ones this year?
